Find Your Current Firmware Version

Before updating your firmware, it's important to know your current version. You can find this information in the bottom left corner of the PBMS tools window when connected to your battery.

Important: Beta firmware updates enable increased battery utilization by allowing discharge down to 5% and a 95% Depth of Discharge (DOD). These updates are currently undergoing testing and may not be suitable for all users.

Beta Firmware Releases

We are currently conducting beta testing of firmware updates designed to optimize energy utilization. These updates reduce the force charge command from 15% to 5%, potentially allowing grid-tied inverters to access an additional 10% of battery capacity, thereby increasing the total Depth of Discharge (DOD) to 95%.

Please note: Some inverters may have a minimum charge threshold programmed by the manufacturer that cannot be overwritten by this firmware update. This update is particularly effective with Sunsynk and Luxpower inverters, but may also enhance performance with other inverters that utilize force charge commands from batteries.

Changelog

Most Recent Changelog (28/09/24):

  • Resolved an issue with Sunsynk inverters where the battery would not consistently reach a 100% state of charge.
  • Addressed a charge current limitation on 15.5Kwh Gen 1 batteries when connected to Sunsynk inverters. The charge current limit has been increased from 95A to 195A.
  • Corrected a communication error affecting certain Growatt inverter models that occurred following a recent Growatt firmware update.

Previous Changelog:

  • Resolved an issue where Solis inverters were causing the battery to enter sleep mode due to the Solis standby current falling below the detectable threshold. The BMS measurement threshold has been lowered to 300mA to address this.
  • Corrected an issue that caused Solis inverters to display a "Battname FAIL" error when the Pylon communication protocol was selected.
  • Improved State of Charge (SOC) accuracy by uploading specific EVE LF100A (for rack systems) and EVE LF304 (for 15.5kwh systems) discharge and charge curves to the BMS, replacing the previously used standard LifePo4 curve.
  • Enhanced SOC calculations by incorporating the power consumption of the BMS screen.

Firmware Update Guide

Important: To ensure a successful firmware update, please turn OFF the battery breaker and ensure the battery is ON before proceeding.

  1. Open the downloaded firmware file.
  2. Extract the contents of the firmware file.
  3. Open the BMS Upgrade V1.03 Program. Ensure that PBMS tools is not connected or running during this process.
  4. Connect the RS232 cable to the designated port on the battery and the USB port on your computer.
  5. Select the appropriate serial port within the BMS Upgrade V1.03 program.
  6. Enter the password "541800".
  7. Click "Browse" and locate the .bin firmware file that you extracted earlier.
  8. Click "Upgrade" to initiate the firmware update process.
  9. When prompted, select "Yes" to confirm that you wish to proceed with the update.

Important Notes:

  • Before installing any firmware updates, verify that the current version number displayed in the PBMS tools (bottom left-hand corner of the main window) matches the BMS model listed in the tables above.
